What's New with the Comprehensive Plan Update

A big "thank you!" to everyone who came to the March 7 kick-off event. It was well attended, and everyone came prepared to share their thoughts and ideas. We came away with a lot of feedback about what people like and dislike about Roseville today and what they'd like to see in the future. We've recorded all of that input, and now we'll start to evaluate how it can be incorporated into the update comprehensive plan. Click here to see your comments and to learn what everyone else had to say.

Online Survey

If you missed the kick-off event, we missed you, too! Please consider participating in an online survey that will prompt you for answers to questions about what Roseville is doing well, what it could be doing better, and what you'd like to see in the near (and more distant) future. Click here to begin the survey. It won't take you too long!

Meeting In A Box

Meeting in a box is a kit (though not literally a box) of simple materials that you can borrow to facilitate your own community engagement mini-event. There's a large map to draw on, markers and pens, sticker-dots and post-its, and a facilitation guide that gives you, the host, some suggestions for how to get people talking and sharing their ideas. Check out a kit and engage your neighbors, book club, faith community, fantasy sports league, scouting troop, or whomever else you can think of. If you know you want one, or if you want to know more about one, click here to email us about the meeting in a box.

What is a Comprehensive Plan?

A comprehensive plan is a tool for guiding the growth, redevelopment, and overall improvement of a city. For example, Roseville’s current 2030 Comprehensive Plan identifies not only a land-use plan, but also develops a broader framework to help shape the character of the community and enhance the quality of life.

What role does the Comp Plan have in shaping Roseville's future?

The current plan aims to do the following:

  • Create and sustain the elements that define Roseville’s character, heritage, and identity.
  • Influence the economic health of the community by attracting new investment and guiding it to proper locations and by protecting existing investments through the promotion of strong residential neighborhoods and business districts.
  • Shape the future of municipal government by identifying needed public improvements that facilitate and sustain development.

Why does the Comp Plan need to be updated?

Roseville has begun the process of reviewing the 2030 Comprehensive Plan and recalibrating it to ensure that it continues to reflect the community’s collective vision for its future and align with the Metropolitan Council’s plan for the region.
